Upgrades

Couple things:

1st, I just installed a set of double platinums in my '03 4.0L and I'm having a little trouble figuring out what all the hoopla is about. Well I guess that isn't totally fair to say because I did notice a little difference but I'm not quite sure what to credit it to. I never did a computer reset after installing my FIPK and new exhaust and from what I'm reading that should be done so as I changed out plugs I un-hooked the battery. After the plugs were in I went through the procedure to re-train the idle curves and then went for a fairly lengthy drive, it had a little more pep but hardly noticeable at best. Thoughts/Input??

2nd, MAFS, has anyone dropped the 3+ C-notes on one of these things and if so was the 300 bucks justified? I'm planning on ordering a Diablo 3 stage chip pretty soon but couldn't help but wonder if the MAFS would be worth the money and would be worth putting in first.... Any input on this??

Lastly, I've heard tell of FOMOCO's spark plug wires having a odd impedance/resistance and that aftermarket wires typically don't work all that hot. I read something here about the Autolite Pro Series wires being the bomb and am just wondering what the benefits are in these wires, anyone run these for a while and have some input?

Gotta run, yack at you guys later,

Didnt your truck come with DP's from the factory? I thought they did, if so, thats probably why you didnt notice much.

A I dont think a new MAF for 300 bucks will make up for its price in the performance dept. If your old one was busted, and you found a good deal on a performance one, i might get one, but otherwise, the stock ones are pretty good. I think there's a tech article on it somewhere.

I havent heard a thing about plug wires yet

The main thing about the double platinum plugs is they last 100,000+ miles.

Well I thought that the designation for double platinum was "PP". These stock motorcraft plugs didn't have that so I assumed they were just platinums. Oh well, if so I've got an extra set now... HAH

You should have had two different stock plugs and stock ones are not 2x platinum. I believe theres a link to a post by Bob Ayers on the DIS system explaining why.

I was thinking it was only the 3.0L that have the different plugs.
