89 aerostar wont start
Hi everyone let me start off by telling what happened. My dad has an 89 aerostar. About 2 weeks ago he was going to work and when he turned on the car he could hear the fuel pump hum but it was loud and longer than usual. He made it to work, but on the way back the car just stopped. We changed out the fuel pump, that didn’t work, then we changed the relay, that didn’t work, we checked for a spark there was no spark, so we changed the ignition coil and the module, nothing. Then we noticed that the fuel pump was not humming when we turned the key, so we checked the fuel pump by hooking up a wire with power to the plug where the fuel pump relay goes and we heard the pump hum. We’ve tried several different relays and the pump still won’t hum. We’re running out of ideas if anyone can help, it would be appreciated. If you still have no spark then pull off the distributor cap and see if the rotor is turning
had similar problem with mine and rotor isn't turning I think the timing chain has gone
hopefully this isnt whats wrong with yours

The fuel pump will run for a couple of seconds when you first turn the key to the "ON" position. It will then shut off until you crank the engine, and will kep running for as long as the engine runs. So the only way to check the fuel pump and its relay when the engine won't run is to turn the key off and back on, without trying to start it.
