I have the 22 code "Manifold Absolute/Baro Pressure sensor out of range" on in my 91 Explorer. The check engine light has been coming on so I checked codes and that's what came up. Any help?
I'm not sure which you have on a 91, BAP or MAP? If there's a vacuum hose going to it, make sure the hose is firmly connected, and not loose or cracked. Be sure to check the other end where it attaches to the intake manifold or vacuum "tree". The BAP/MAP sensor should be located on the firewall.
MAP=Manifold Air Pressure sensor
BAP=Barometric Air Pressure sensor.
They're essentially the same sensor, MAP connects to engine vacuum, BAP is just left open to the air under the hood. In the case of a '91 Explorer, it will be a BAP. I hear it's usually bolted to the firewall, though, in other cases, it's built into the MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor).
