Question Bonded Repair Panels

I've been reading alot lately about bonding repair panels as opposed to welding them in. Anyone have any personal experience with this type of repair? I'm preparing to install rear wheelwell patch panels on my '90 F150 and will probably go the welding route with this repair, but I'm curious about the bonding method (real world pros and cons, etc...) for possible future repairs.

Hi Roger - Welcome to FTE.

I'm not familiar with the adhesive process, but here's a link to bonding panels with body adhesives and if this doesn't answer your questions, do a search of this forum for "Glue" and you'll find many other threads.

Good luck with your project.

My bodyman neighbor uses that stuff as do the factories these days. Most of the door skins are bonded on these days from the factory. When my neigbor fixed up his old Chevy truck he used the bonding agent to replace his wheel well lips on his bed and the rear cab corners, That was 3 years ago and it looked great. He felt it wasn't worth welding in replacement parts. He cut the lips off on some junker at his work before that shipped it out, it wasn't even a Chevy truck!

There are a lot of tricks you can use if you just want to patch things up and many work well.
