Hey, this is my first post so Im sorry if its in the wrong place. I have been looking all over the internet for companies that make short shifter and finally BD came out with one, the only problem is that its 290 dollars. Thats crazy! Short throws are usually like 120, so do you guys/gals think the price will drop or is it worth the money? If anyone has any pics i would greatly appreciate seeing them!! Thank you all for your help!
What tranny is it for the old five-speed or the newer six-speed. Yeah shifters for cars are usually in the 100-200 dollar range but think about how much extra material has to go into a truck shifter just so you can reach it. On a somewhat related note has anyone bent the shift forks in a six-speed, and if so how much are replacements and does anyone make stronger ones?
According to their site they will have the shifter for both trannies.
Do you mean the fork that holds the release bearing or the actual rail forks? The 99 and 00 models had a problem with the release bearing forks, and an upgraded unit is available. I only personally know of two guys that have lunched a ZF-6 (read of a few others), but they were both pilot bearing related.
No I have already replaced my release bearing fork with an aftermarket one when I replaced my clutch. I was refering to the the forks inside the tranny that actually shift the gears. I thought I had heard of some problems with them bending when guys shift thier trucks hard causing the tranny to lock in a gear. On the release bearing fork, my buddy is the parts manager at the local dealership, and he told me Ford has upgraded that part # three times, and are still having some problems with it, so I just bought an aftermarket one when I did my clutch.
