need help smokey psd
i have a 1996 f350 psd with 317,569 miles . the poblem is when i start the truck in the morning it run on 7 cyls intill it gets warm and smokes like crazy till it gets warm, and the truck is now stumbling at 2000 rpm and smokes intill 2400 rpm it has a code in the computer idm fault can this be the problem or something else help me please

well, first off see what the fault is. As for the 7 cylender thing, sounds like it needs a set of glo-plugs. Is the engine ok until 2K rpm? sounds like low line pressure, when is the last time you changed the fuel filter? Your pump might be on its way also with 317K. See if you can go to autozone or somewhere and borrow a fuel pressure gauge and see what the pressure is and what it is supposed to be, sounds like glo-plugs and an injector pump. Whenever it change glo-plugs i change the glo-plug relay also, would not hurt anything.
