Angry Update on my transmission problem, new problem

ok, the rod that goes from the carburator to the transmission was all the way off, i put it back on, and rigged it with a wire posing as a cotter pin. i drove it around the block, and it still did not shift, anyone know why this could be?

the rod was coming from the rear driver side of the transmission, and hooks into the carburator on the dirver side, under the filter. this is still my Ford F150, transmission hooks into a 302 and it is an automatic transmission with first, drive, overdrive, and reverse, park, and neutral.

If you have a 85 f150 with a 302 it should be EFI and not carburated. I thought AOD transmissions used a cable and not a rod for kick down.

Ok, got it fixed.

I had my brother look at it. He adjusted the rod that links the throttle body to the tranny, and now it works like a charm.

For the record, it's a 302 with a 2 bbl carb, hooked to an AoD transmission. Dunno if it is the original engine or not.

Anyone know what the average Gas mileage is on these trucks?

Don't know for sure on the fuel mileage. With the AOD and a 2bbl carb, I would expect 15-18mpg if you keep your foot out of it. Or as MontanaFord likes to say, no LFS lol.

It'll probably be closer to 16mpg though if you're lucky.

Glad to hear that you got it fixed.

I just replaced a C6 with an ADO. We had to purchase a kit for the kick down cable. The ADO uses the cable for shifting. It is not a traditional kick down. The ADO was only available on EFI engines, not carb. I dropped almost 1000 RPM. I have not checked the gas mileage, but it is much better. I have a 351 HO. The truck no longer screams going down the highway. At 65, the truck RPM’s at 1800.
I have a problem with a vibration in the system. It’s related to the trans job. We could not use the original flywheel. The torque converter is different, and the flywheel was not a deep dish as the 302. We put a 302 flywheel on it and now I have a balance problem. It could not be the flywheel, could be something else? I am going to post to see if anyone has an idea.

The AOD was available on carburated trucks. In fact it was first introduced in 1/2 ton trucks in 1981 when thats all that trucks had were carburators.
