OK,bare with me here. I'm new to this audio stuff. So, here is my idea so far. I have a Pioneer DEH-P6500 on the way. I'm looking at 6.5 in. component speakers for the doors and 6X8 3 way for the rear. The 6X8 speakers I'm looking at are the Pioneer TS-A6870R 2-50 Watt RMS. My questions are:
I would scratch the rear speakers and go with a sub to "fill in" your lows. You will be amazed how much better your 6.5 comps will sound with a little bass.As far as comp speakers,I have a set of CDT 61a's and they are great. You can buy them for 150 bucks from thezeb.com.For that price, you cannot find a better pair of comps.Infinity,MB Quart,Kicker,Alpine and Pioneer are other good choices for comp sets that won't break the bank.A good amp to power the comps would be a Soundstream Rubicon 75Wx2 from Woofersect.com. for 127 bucks.I am in the process of rebuilding my system so I have been doing some research.Good luck.
Thanks,
Suppose I go with component speakers in the doors w/ the tweets, component speakers in the rear w/o the tweeters and run all 4 with a good 4 channel amp? Would that give some kick? I could eventually get a sub w/ another amp but I'm trying to avoid a box because I don't want to lose cargo room in my Bronco and i don't want it to get stolen when I have the top off.
I choose to use separates in my 04 CrewCab. I used Kenwood KFC P605ie components, the 6 1/2 inch 2 way speaker in the stock location, the recessed tweeters in the front windshield pillars and in the rear, about ear height. I run these through a Rockford Fosgate P4004 Amp. These run at at 4 ohm load. The bass is added via a custome ported sub encloser with a 10" Memphis M-class sub powered by a Rockford Fosgate P3001. The sub runs at a 2 ohm load.
