cruise control

I also have a probblem with my cruise control, which it has never worked since i've had the truck. But the lady I bought the truck from said it was workiing fine and all at once it quit. Also the gear selector needle doesn't work, but I have a new cable for it, would it be related to the cruise control?

Thanks
William L.

9 times out of 10 it is a vaccum line that is broken or hooked up wrong. There is a small looking coffee can looking canister that one of the cruise control lines run to that commonly rust out. I would check there first.

Likely a vaccum leak. Check all of your vaccum lines from the intake manifold to the cruise control unit under the hood.
Most of the time it is just easier/quicker to replace the vaccum lines than to trace down the leak. Rubber get hard/brittle after long exposure to heat and petroleum products.
