I have just about completed the body work and primer (Epoxy and 2K). I used a cheap HF gun with my 5HP compressor and it turned out fine.
However I have bought a Finishline III (conventional) gun to do the BC/CC.
My current compressor will not supply sufficient air (11.9 at 40psi)
I can rent an 8HP gasoline compressor with 8gal tank at the local rental place. This is rated at 14CFM at 125PSI, so should have sufficient capacity.
I have not seen (and didn't find in a search) any mention of using a gasoline powered compressor. Is there any reason this would not work?
Thanks...Paul
Maybe because of the highly flammable fumes. Other than that I don't know. You could just have the compressor running outside the painting area with good ventilation, if you have enough air hose.
Triton is right on, also be sure no overspray can get on it, and keep it well out of your painting booth. I'll just add that be sure you dont forget to fill the tank up before you start spraying . ( ITS EASY TO FORGET WHEN THE EXCITEMENT OF " WOW, AM FINALLY GETTING READY TO PUT ON MY COLOR" HITS YA , and its always good to have some type of in- line filters in your air line at the a/c air outlet, or at least at the gun, to filter out any moisture or debris before it gets in your paint gun.
