Oh my acking back and butt.......

Hey Gang.
For years my 65 has had a few catalogs stuffed in the spring of the seat to keep it level and firm well a spring came though and stabbed my in the butt the other day. Now up here in the North East there are no 70's truck in yards I've looked! Been hunting for disk brakes for two years with no luck.
However I've found a nice 86 with a mint seat! Will it fit? Do i use the 65 mounts?
Is there a way to swap the spindels to get my disks? I've got king pin reamers and a press so works no big deal.

Thanks

OUCH!!!! That hurts...I am almost 1000% positive the 86 seat will fit...my 65 too has a seat from an 80's era rig in it...if your tracks work good, I would keep them myself....nice to have spares if nothing else.

I think you HAVE to use your original tracks. Seems like I read that a while ago.

Tony, It should work fine. The floor pans are likely different so plan on using your mounts. I have heard that seats to 96 will work.

happy trails

I concur, An 86 seat will work & eitherway, whether you use your tracks or not, do not discard them! I think you can use 86 tracks because both your Slick & 86 F150 have a flat floor. If not use of 65-6 tracks will be the cure.

I know for CERTAIN/ SURE when using a split back bench seat, like from a Super Cab, where either one side or other side backrest can be tilted forward (like Tudor Sedan or a 5 passenger coupe cars) you most definitely Must use the early trax, but I've used later trax in 65 & 66 w/o any problem.

With the split back benchseat their OEM track off set puts seat farther back & it can interfere with the cab back or not slide forward enough for some folks.

As for the 86 calipers Spindles and rotors, I dont think so, at least not as a direct replacement bolt in upgrade like 73-79. Having said that I admit nothing is impossible with enough resources thrown at it. . . . but why bother when 73-79 set up's a Direct Bolt in?

E-mail me about Disc Brakes.
Use my Florida Slicks address: sunstate _ Slick60's @ yahoo .com I may be able to help you out with what you need depending on your general location in the NE. I have some connections up there.
Lets talk anyway. . . .
