tip for do-it-yourselfers...

Just a tip to pass along....I just finshed a sizeable kitchen project. I replaced all existing Formica counter tops with 12x12 Granite tiles. In the course of this project I had need for a construction adhesive. I have used Liquid Nails products in the past and found them to be good products. This time I tried something different and found it to be a GREAT product. It is named (simply) "PL". It comes in a yellow and black tube for use in a caulk gun. It is a polyurethane based construction adhesive. If you ever find yourself needing something along those line, give it a try. I think you too will be pleased. OBTY: I bought it at Home Depot.

Ah, God Bless the Home Depot. The one near me has absolutely horrible customer service (probably because they know their only competition in town opens 3 hours later and closes 5 hours earlier), but if you can get around without needing any help or advice, it's the place to go. I go there sometimes just for the heck of it. When it comes to nuts and bolts, go to MacClendon's, but the Home Depot has everything else.

Did you use "Finished Granite" or did you have to surface it yourself?

I've often thought about using stone in some parts of a house, but I think it would need a special machine (Sort of a cross between a floor buffer, and a head/block planer) to smooth out the pieces....

I recently watched an older building across from where I work having it's roof redone, and they used (Mostly re-used) slate tiles for shingles. That's a "Hundred Year" roofing job, man!

Rock lasts almost forever....
