The alt wiring is going to be pretty much the same if both broncos had amp guages. If one had an idiot light, then there is going to be a difference. Here is the diagram for the alt with factory amp guage.

Thank you Franklin2 but guess what the 86 body i have changed to has an idiot light, the only spare wires i have are , a dark green one ,a orange/black,orange ,and black . thank you again for your reply. CBREEZE

Here is the diagram for a system with an idiot light. You will see it uses the "I" terminal on the reg where the other one doesn't. And the "S" terminal goes to the alt instead of the key-switch. Small but important differences. I think I understand that you are using the 86 body on the 79 chassis, so you will want to hook it up to match the 86 with the idiot light.
In reality, the idiot light wiring is better than the amp guage. At least it tells you if some-thing's wrong. The factory amp guage does not give out much info.
