I dont know about yall, but I sure am rooting for Smarty Jones. It is such a great story, and I really hope he gets the job done. I for one do not really watch horse racing, nor usually care for it, but Smarty seems so special. Go Smarty Jones Go!!!!!
Smarty is a REAL PHILLY (as in Philadelphia) HORSE. Just as with all of our other sports teams, he lost in the end....I don't think that he choked like the rest of our teams though...
Great race, horse gave it a great effort but I think he ran out of gas. Maybe the distance is one he'll have to work up to. I had that same 'luck punhcing you in the stomach' feeling when the race ended as I did when Aaron Boone hit that homer against the Red Sox in the 11th inning of game 7 last year.
I was just like most, rootin' for little Smarty. Horses are a lot like trucks, I guess, the engine displacement is the key. I watched Birdstone (come in 13 th at the Derby, if I recall right) and at Belmont come from the back and win, WHAT ! I couldnt believe it ! Now, after pondering on it, the way I see it , ole Birdie being the bigger horse has a 460 in him, he needed the long track to get opened up, and showed it at Belmont. Poor Smarty, he has the 302, and just couldnt go for full power that long. He is a great horse, and a true winner on any track, whether he touches the wire or not, because he has heart.
Owners are recovering alcoholics a
…Jockey that is recovering, a horse that had a cracked skull at 2 years old, They all have come a very long way…. only in America.
Still a wonderful story for all three
Well as a local "Philadelphian"....I just look at it as the "Philly curse "....we don't have a single sports item worth following. I turn my attention to the Phillies!
I got tired of hearing those whiny Philly fans before the race though. Curse this, curse that, please yall won an NBA title in like 84' or something. Im by Cleveland and we havent won anything since like 45' in baseball, 65' in football, and never in basketball(although Lebron will change that soon ). Thing is you never hear anyone from Cleveland complain about a curse, its just that we are a small market, and we know that. Cleveland- Drinking town with a sports problem
