Ok i striped the flash chrome off my 1972 f250 grill then hand polished it to a mirror shine ,,, can i spray clear coat on this, ?????? I sure dont want to have to keep polishing this thing......i am tired...thanks for any help Bruce
I would like to know how you got it off and was it ez the method you used
Not a real easy method but this is how i did it...i started with a 4 1/2 in. side grinder ...i found grinding wheels[ kinda fibric looking stuff ] at lowes that had 3 different wheels all different grades ..I took the finest and started grinding...you have to be real careful or it will make gouges ....after all the flash chrome is off ... i started out with 220 sand paper to get the swirl marks out....it will still be rough looking but it gets better.... then i go to 600 wet or dry and use water ...after that i go to 1500 then 2000....it is still dull but you should have all the sanding marks out ....then start polishing ...i used mothers .... there might be a easier way to do it but this worked for me..... lots of elbo grease.... i hope this helps....will post pictures soon ..not finished yet but almost.........when the shine starts comeing through its all worth it................
ever thought of using a clear powdercoat? lots more durable than clear paint.
email me at warlockpain@hotmail.com if you decide to go the powdercoat route. i can help!
Hey, Dave. Give ole FTE a thank you for removing your email. I posted mine once here a year or so ago and wow, and the spam started to flow until finally I was forced to abandon that email address. Anyhow, I'd think twice about posting your phone too. Just my opinion. Good luck.
