fuel milage

Quetion? I've got a 2001 F350 Lariat Dually PSD 4x4 crew cab with auto trans. the truck is great but the fuel milage is horrible...I've got @ 2500 miles on it now, and the fuel milage only comes up 1/10th at a time. started at 11.2 mpg up to 13.8 now. When is going to get up there to 17-24mpg like everyone claims? Thanks

What's your final drive ratio? The highest MPG reports are probably coming from 3.73:1 trucks (my 2001 got 17 MPG on its first tank but that's with the 6-speed manual and no load.)

If you have a 4.30:1 you may never see those high numbers...

fuel milage

per my experience 98% of the people i talk to claim alot more than they are really getting. I have a 00 dually crewcab-empty i have always gotten 10.5-11.5. But when i load it down with 20000 lbs i only get 6-7 mpg. These are realistic figures. Anyone who says differently is full of it.I also have 3 friends with the same truck but with 4x4 and with the chip (which i have) they are getting with 1 mpg the same. The biggest difference i have noticed is the speed you drive at. The slower you travel the better the fuel mileage.By the way i do have 3.73 gears with the allison auto. I really work my truck unlike alot of people, its got 50000 miles already and the only problem i have is keeping tires on it!
