downtube hp

how much more horsepower do you gain by changing the downtube on a 96 f 350 from orig to a 3 inch round?

If that's all you were to change, I'd say probably 5-10. You'd see an improvement in EGT's, too. Opening up the exhaust to 4", and adding an intake would help too.

i changed the air filter from oem to an k&n. i also have a bullydog 4 position flip chip. how much good would adding dual stacks to the truck?

Don't look for major HP gains with intake and exhaust mods. They are extremely helpful though when you run a chip/tuner or propane though and help keep the EGT down. More air allows you to burn more fuel, but in the stock program the amount of fuel is not changed when you do exhaust and intake mods. The downpipe in the older PSDs is a great upgrade though when you're getting your truck ready to chip.

Beyond a 4" exhaust system, anything bigger or more elaborate doesn't gain any more power. I've got a 5" system with a 6" tip, but I don't produce any more power now than when I had my 4". The sound is better, and I get more attention at the truck stop, but 4" is enough until you get up to 450rwhp.
