I just picked up this truck for cheep, rusty as he!! but the drive train is sound.
The 351w has a holley 4010/4011 4v but the intake has no brand name on it.
Did this carb come stock on the 351w HO engines?
It also has long tube headers.
Is there an easy way to tell if it has an aftermarket cam?
Any and all info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I do know that 351W HO engines had 4bbl carburetors. You may have a stock aluminum intake. I do not know what carburetor it came stock with. Headers are a wonderful thing, more power and economy, can't beat that. I can't tell you of any easy way to tell if it has other than a stock cam. I hope this is of some help.
I believe the 4bbl 351 (HO) came out in the 1985 model year. I ordered my 85 F150 on 31 December 1984, & it seems that the option had just come available @ that time. The intake, if I recall correctly, was aluminum & the carb was a Holley 4160. Great engine (for its time-typical pre-EFI), though mileage was disappointing. The truck is still around town, though I sold it in 1995 with 213,XXX miles.
The 351 H.O.s had a non-painted, aluminum air filter box that used a charcoal impregnated filter element designed to reduce vapor emissions. I remember that they cost about $18 each!
My '85 f150, 351w ho, has a Holley 4180 carb, all stock as far as I know. Mine's getting replaced by a new edelbrock 1406 carb with a new edelbrock 2181 intake manifold cause I had the carb rebuilt and it still runs terrible and gets poor fuel milaege. I've tried everything else and this was my final option.
