Man what a difference, this baby really moves!! But still the sputter at 2500RPM It only does it at moderate throttle - when I floor it there is no sputter and it only does it between 2500 and 2800 RPM. No where else during acceleration. This is a minor problem, but it is drivin me crazy.
Everything else works great so I have cleared the memory on the ECM and checked the codes. I still get the thermocator air system fault. I have the system unpluged because I have removed the air pump so I'm not sure if this is what is causing the sputter. I have read in other forums where people have removed the air pump and disconnected the thermocator sensor with no problems like I am having.
Any suggestions? (man this is getting to be a long thread)
this might already been asked but have you changed your fuel filter. and checked your fuel pressure? sounds to me like fuel shortage or a clogged cat is causing your problem now.
Also you might want to double check the ignition module on the distributor. There are two types: one for the Carb setup and one for theEFI setup.
I had very similar type of sputtering for the longest time after replacing the ignition module with new one. Found out it was the wrong one. Since replaced and had now more sputtering.
Oh yeah, change that ecm or get a megasquirt ecm to replce it. also make sure all your sensors are compatible with the 5.8 vs 5.0. I'll definatley agree with the psot about the timing I have done this before and had similar issues, replaced the ecm with a megasquirt ecm runs perfect did this for my bros in laws mustang. no issues no had to replace a few f the sensors due to dealer techs telling me sensor where compatible and they wern't according to forparts.com. Mega squirt if you decide to go that route can be programmed, will run you about $300 for the whole kit. Good luck otherwise.
