Mikebte, I'm not stepping on you in any way, so please don't take offense to this question. By any chance, are you living with your parents? Are your parents helping pay off the loan?
The reason I ask, is 80% of the students going to the vo-tech schools are kids that live with thier parents, having their parents paying the tuition, and don't take any of the schooling seriously. They start working in the field for about 3 years and they don't like constantly buying tools so they quit lock, stock, and barrel.
Oh yeah, that is another thing school does not tell you. You have to constantly buy tools to keep up with the work. Always getting that specialty tool. After you run out of toolbox room you have to keep getting larger boxes which equals more money.
I am not trying to make a decision for you at all. I am trying to open your eyes to what is really behind that nice smile with a pen ready for you to sign the dotted line.
It's kind of like the local US Army recruiter. He will tell you what you think you want to hear. But once you get off that bus, you find out the military isn't as grand as he said it would be. It's a very tough, demanding, expensive and stressful field to get into. You have to make sure you really want to do this type of work and are capable of handling the stress and responsibilities that go along with it.
I am just trying to lend a little guidence before you decide to make that expensive leap of faith. This is many years of experience under my belt.
Like I stated before, follow your heart. If your heart says you need school, by all means, go to school. Listen to your gut feelings and make your dreams come true.

Second, this is for the dude with bin laden's head being blown off (cool graphic by the way) how much have you looked into it? I looked a little on the net today and the only thing it has is 20-28 grand for the degree depending on which field you go into. What im trying to find out is: does that cover all expenses or is it just tuition and shop fees? I mean that much plus housing, food, car insurance, and everything else could add up to well over 30 grand for one year of school. Even with a great job right off the bat it would take forever to pay all that back and im just not that sure it would be worth it. UTI has no figures at all on their site. Let me know what you fellas find out and everyone else... the more opinions the better so keep em coming!
