I'm looking for any information on a switch that will allow me to let my diesel truck run (KEYLESS) while I'm away from it,
Lets say I stop at a job site and want to leave my truck running I could flip the switch on the dash, put the truck in park, turn off the key and put it in my pocket and walk away...
I know they use these in Police Squad cars and Ambulances
this can't be too difficult to install, where and who??
thanks, Phil...
What year and model is your truck? I'm assuming it's a Ford. Post it, and I'll ask at the safety store, they sell equipment for emergency and construction vehicles.
I have a 2000 PSD and have a Code Alarm on it with a remote start that allows me to exit the truck with the keys in hand and it still running. Check with any Code Alarm installer for details.
one of my troops recently bought a deal called a turbo timer for his eclipse. it alows him to let the engine idle for 5 minutes to cool while he locks the doors and walks away. It is all sorts of adjustable. maybe the same type of deal is available for turbo diesels. One simple (and cheap!) way I know is to get a key chain with a quick disconnect in the middle. put your door key on one end and your ignition key on the other. you will have to use 2 of the same keys as your truk uses the ignition key for everything I am sure. I do this with my 86 and just leave the half with the door key key in my pocket. then when I get out at the store or whereever I just leave it idling and hit the door lock button on the way out. Hope this helps.
