Hi
Ive got a 92 3.0 Aerostar and have just bought a replacement used trans to put in it but the trans is out of a newer aerostar 4.0.
I dont know which trans it is 4r or 5r it how do i tell?
My trans has 2 connectors on the left side and the other trans has a 16pin multi plug and a switch on the gear selector lever
I know itll fit my van but will it work? or can it be made/fooled into working?
There is a plate on the 4.0 trans that has "96 GTMAA .1 6B20" stamped on it can I find out which trans it is from this?
Also how would I go about flushing this trans before i fit it
I live in the UK and most garages dont know a thing about Automatic tranmissions and they tend to get a horrified look of fear on there faces at the thought of even touching one let alone working on one

I hate to tell you this but there is no way that new trans is going to bolt up and work on your 3.0 where your A4LD was. The new trans is 100% conputer controled and the 4.0 and 3.0 have different bullhouseings.
