I have mine mounted on a short bed along with a Weathergard 19" toolbox. It is "fairly" weather tight. I do get some minimal water in the bed. I would call it more like seepage. Not a fault of the top. On the toolbox edition there is a header rail with a rubber gasket that pressure fits against the toolbox. Also the side rails that clamp onto the inside face of the bed rails are gasketed. What isn't gasketed well is my original toolbox or tailgate. I attempted to add gasket material under the sides of the box that overlap the bed rails and the forward surface that seals against the front of the bed but should have done a better job. Will someday remove the box and re-seal all surfaces. Also will add a tailgate gasket.
A friend has a full top model (no tool box) on his ride and has no water in the bed.
The nice thing about the Access covers is the crossbars roll up with the cover and the cover tension is adjustable to allow for slight stretch and shrinkage. The cover attaches to a solid bar at the tailgate that rotates rearward into the mounts tensioning the cover when securing. There are slide locks at each end that secure the cover when closed. Of course someone could cut the cover to get at the bed if they wanted in bad enough. Have had no problems with cover flexibility even in the PA winters.
Access Roll Up...Purchased in 1995 for a '95 F-150...modified to fit '97, 2000, 2002, Ford trucks. The '04 bed is to big so I am having it modified one more time to put on my daughter's truck. A Dodge 1500 (oops sorry for the bad word)
4 trucks and 9 years old and the canvas looks like new when it is clean.
