Source for bed side steps?
I have been lurking and benefitting from the wisdom of the group for the past month as I awaited the arrival of my 350 SC V10. It is here now and I am happy. One question if I might. I ordered this Lariat with the chrome side steps which only cover the the two doors and do not go well to well. I need some step to access my toolbox etc in front of the rear wheels. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks much,
Larry
I have the crew cab F-250 with the "wheel-to-wheel" side step (see pic in gallery; kinda overcast.. I'll take better pix and post them there). Mine is made by Westin. Other manufacturers are available (DeeZee, Carr, Go Rhino, Transdapt, Lund, Outland, Pilot, Smittybilt, Street Scene) and there's a decent number of styles to choose from. I did a keyword search under "truck steps", "side steps", and the like and just rummaged through until I found a few comparable steps.
Other than the usual "Hardcore 4X4" truck stores, places like Pep Boys carry the same brands for less. I found out that the "wheel-to-wheel" side steps usually have to be shipped by truck (expensive). So, you'd be wise to compare the total price of buying a side step off an internet site + shipping vs. the price of getting the side step from a local Pep Boys, Kragan, Auto Zone, etc where THEY don't have a shipping charge since you pick it up at their store.
Good luck,
Daryl
