I have an 81 Ford F100 with a 300 6 and 4 speed manual. The motor threw a rod last weekend. After some research a lucky thing happend. I guy had wreck a 94 ford f150 with a 300 6 and auto tranny and is selling it for 500 bucks. Will this motor and tranny drop in and bolt up to my motormounts and tranny mounts. I have to pull the motor so i am going to take the wiring harness and cpu out of it with the motor and install it in my current truck. I know this is not going to be an easy quick fix but it is cheaper then fixing the one i have now. Any suggestion will help or is this even worth the time and effort....I think it is.
Will it fit the same as the one i have now?????
Thanks
I just finished a job like yours. I have a 1980 ford stepside that i put an 86 EFI 302 in. It wasn't exactly fun but the payoff was good. The Engine should bolt in but the hard part is going to be well... everything else. When I swapped mine I did a frame off (since I had the time) and it made things a lot easier. Your gonna have to use the entire wiring harness for the whole truck since the auto tranny is an EOD and requires I few more wires than your four speed. Your gonna have to swap pretty much everything from under the hood of the 94 to make yours work. You will also need the fuel tanks, fuel lines, and fuel pump. You'll need to cut a few holes in the firewall, cut a hole in the radiator support for the air box intake, You'll need all of the linkage for the transmission, and an auto trans steering column. I found that when I was done with my truck I had a 1986 with a 1980 frame and body.
It's a lot of work but it was sure worth it. Good luck if you decide to go for it..
