Anyone make a custom intake?

I just picked up a 92 F150 5.0 5spd and its kind of a dog on the highway so I figured I'll start off the perf mods with an intake.

I noticed it has two intake tubes. Has anyone ever put a K&N cone filter on the end of EACH intake tube? Probably build a heat sheild box around the cone filters as well.

Just looking for some ideas and maybe some pics of some custom intakes.

I don't plan on putting a drop in filter because I love the sound of an intake. Also don't plan on buying an expensive intake system

You can buy a K&n filter that has 2 three inch holes on it, and it bolts in perfect to the end of the tubes with just 2 pieces of 3 in tubing. Made a major difference in the upper end. You will laugh when you see the rectangle hole it has to suck air though. The hole is about the size of a hotdog laying sideways.

It's tough to many a lot of a mods to the speed density motors. They're pretty well pre-configured from the factory the way they are, and they don't respond all that well to mods. The computer won't be able to sense the increased airflow the engine is getting from the new intake, and may or may not respond the way you expect it to.
