Bah - just as I had feared, they don't fit. I called Jegs, Summit, and a few of the local places in search of a tall version of the Edelbrock. I came up blank on all acounts. "What the heck," I said, "I'll order the Edelbrocks."
Long story short - they're here and they do not fit. It is mostly the PCV baffling that is causing me problems.
How do I proceed, oh wise ones? Can I cut that baffle out and pretend I don't have a PCV? Can I order some new, relatively inexpensive valve covers?
Pat Im so damn sorry..I never asked Greg if his had the baffle in them?
Ya want to have a baffle in them to keep all the oil where it belongs and not on top of the motor..I asked Greg about his..and he said they cleared..I guess his dint have the baffle in them...
I feel bad now...I shouldnt give out info..unless I know first hand..Maybe you can Exchange them...If there's a restocking fee..let me know..I'll pay for it!!
No no no! Your informatin was not the culprit, rather, it was my "what the hell" approach. A minor setback at best, this is not really a concern right now. I still have to mount my gas tank and get my shifter in before the truck can move. Not to mention getting motor mount nuts, fabbing up a plate to cover the firewall ( I always hated that damn heater box...not a concern any more!), mount my alt, get the PS stuff back in there, and then get that darn front clip assembled. Needless to say, the covers aren't going to be a delay.
Alas - back to my MegaShifter install. (The truck won't go fast, but it'll look like it does. *giggle* )
Mine were like $50 as well. Mine weren't labeled as "Tall". I think the were the 4462 part number you can get at Summit etc. Are you trying it with the pushrods installed, holding the rockers in position. Maybe if you had a rocker sticking straight up it would be a problem.
I know I was running them for a while.
Russ, I'm pretty sure I sent you an email recently about the covers..
I have the Edel heads, Erson rockers and Edel Signature Valve covers. They touched. Just set them in place and give them a tap just above the baffle. If that doesn't do it then turn em over and "adjust" the baffle. you will see where the interference is by the witness mark.
