Exactly. I may rebuild one of the stock pumps I have. It always kept my 360 alive, why wouldn't it work with my 390?

I have the book, I'll just follow it's instructions.

im getting the parts from a local machine shop, i get a discount because i part own a business "Studer's Welding", so everything i buy i get about i think a 15% discount, the pump ended up being a melling HV $31.99 and a ARP drive shaft for $8.99, it doesnt cost anything to get overnight shipping because everynight theres a truck that brings in parts to the machine shop, so he orders it dureing the day and its here the next morning at $7:30, it really is nice to have survicelike that, i cant wait to get it back togather.

Ya guys ...I went with the Melling HV-57 oil pump and a ARP shaft for my build?

I have always run melling pumps in all my rebuilds..HiPo or not..This is my first Ford

HiPo build...But I have put about 20 HiPo GMs together! Russ

thats the same pump i just put in mine today russ. the one that locked up was the melling stock pump.

i go the pump, shaft and pan backon this morning, and it was he**, 2 hours, i had to jack the motor up 3 inches and then it went in ok, the worst part was the pan bolts but its all togather now, when i go back to the shop after dinner, im gonna fire her up and make sure everythings ok.

i got the pump, shaft and pan back on this afternoon and got it running again, the oil pressure is up at about 65 at idle so its doing good, but when i took it out for a drive the tranny would barely go into gear, the filter must be plugged up cuz now it doesnt move at all, so tomorrow im going to pull the tranny pan and put a new filter and gasket on it.
