Starting Problem

This morning, when I stopped for coffee, my truck wouldn't start - it was a slow turn-over then nothing. Because its a 5 speed I was able to bump start it by rolling backwards and popping the clutch.

I figured it was the battery becasue of the slow start, its been starting slow for two days. I purchased a new battery from Ford and now its the same thing - nothing happens when I turn the key.

Did I get a dead battery or is something else to blame?

If the new battery didn't help it's probably the starter or wiring/connections. Solenoid might also cause it.

Good diagnosis beartracks.
Today I replaced the starter and the wiring to the battery and the problem appears to be solved.
I bought an aftermarket starter for 1/3 of what the Ford dealer wanted - are there different types of starters? The old one always started right away, this one has the engine turning over 2 times before it starts - just curious - seems to start fine though.
