I got a 78 F250 4x4
I got a Brake Booster and Master Cylinder from a 2wd F350 cuz i'm puttin a 460 EFI in the truck. Any way I have no clue as to which hole goes to the front brakes and which goes to the rear Brakes?
On my newer Fords. The Rear hole goes to the front brakes and the Front Hole goes to the Rear Brakes.
I got a Brake booster and master cylinder in the yard from a Bronco. The Larger fitting which goes to the rear brakes was in the Rear hole on the master cylinder.
My understanding is Drums take more fluid so that would lead me to belive the rear hole feeds the rear brakes and the front hole feeds the front brakes so really I have no clue?
Oh yea this is a project and there was never a master cylinder on the truck since i got it last Sept
Actually, it's my understanding that the front disc brakes (assuming you have front disc) take more fluid so the large resevoir is for the front. If you get a chance, take a look at the size of the brake cylinder on the rear and the caliper piston on the front. You'll notice the size difference.
If you don't have disc up front, I'd still say the large res. is for the front. Your front brakes produce something like 70% of your braking power.
I was reading about a rear disc brake conversion and read that I needed a master cyl. for 4 disc brakes, due to the larger volume of fluid required for discs.
