i put all new injectors in my 85 6.9, now the poor thing smokes out the neighborhood. what gives?

smoking is going away but i have had to add 5 gallons of water, no visible sign of leaks, power is gradually coming back, but truck is not 100% thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

Is it STEAM or FUEL smoke? Steam will go away fast, white fuel smoke will linger in the air for a while.

If it is steam it is probably the head gastek or the worst case scenario would be CAVITATION. Lets hope not! Keep us posted on what kind of smoke.

I agree with you on that. 5 gallons of water seems very excessive. How often are you having to add water?

Sounds like a blown head gasket or a cracked head. I just replaced heads and gaskets on my bro-in-laws 86 6.9. His left head was cracked and the gasket was blown.

most of the smoke finally dissipated. i added 3 gallons of water and went on a tow. about 15 miles. when i got home i added 2 more gallons of water. that was yesterday, i had to toss pizzas all night and today. tomorrow i'll try to see if i can find a leak. the truck was starting to run a little stronger but nothing spectacular. to me, it was like breaking in a new engine, the way it gets better after you run it. so far i've missed 2 tows and a free car this weekend alone! thanks.
