Exhaust(ing) Fun

I purchased the turbo back exhaust and the Predator from the Motorhaven group buy a couple of weeks ago, and installed everything over the holiday weekend. Other than alot of fighting to get the old downpipe off, the install went pretty well. The Predator is really all everyone says it is! I am very impressed so far, and I haven't even run a whole tank of fuel through yet. I do have a couple of exhaust questions, though. The first one involves the increase in turbo whine. At present, the cat is not installed, the kit only had one adapter to put the cat back in, so I straight piped it until I can get another adapter and get the cat welded in. The sound is incredible. It sounds like you are on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. Is this normal with the straight pipe, and will it change with the re installation of the cat? I verified the direction of the muffler when I was installing it. My other question concerns clearance of the new downpipe and the firewall - body joint. The new pipe went up into position without any clearance problems at all, and I snugged the band clamp and proceeded to install the rest of the exhaust. Only after I was done did I discover that I have very little clearance (less than 1/8 in) between the pipe and the joint. I am getting vibration in the cab, I know it must be touching when the engine torques. Please tell me there is a way to increase the clearance without removing the whole system and starting over. (please...)
The whole group buy experience with Motorhaven was very good, and the products were just as advertised. The exhaust system is high quality, and everything fit togther well.
Thanks for everyone's help. I think there would be alot of lost souls out here without the help of the people on this site!

Yep - told u the predator was top notch !!!! And motorhaven group is as well :-)

the jet sound you hear is just that ! It's sounds like a turbo jet because it IS !
200,000 RPMS (or some GBN ???)will make some fine noise !!!!

The cat WILL lessen the sound some - to the point of you have to LISTEN for it inside when you're accelerating, but outside !!! WooHoo - get compliments all the time on it - and the kids LOVE it !

When getting your cat put back in, be sure to tell them to size the outlet and inlet (especially) correctly to lessen the flow restrictions thru the cat...
Not a big thing, but more flow is betta ! and if done right you don't loose any flow according to others test...

Re - dp clearance...
I didn't, but some have taken a floor jack and 2x4 between joint and frame member/engine to "push" the joint out a bit to allow the engine to move a bit when under torque and not let it contact the seam...

I still have me stock downpipe and marvel how small and crunched it was compared to the cavernous 3.5 to 4 inch downpipe I got...
