It's that time to replace the front rotors and pads in the 96.
My question is, how do I tell, hopefully without having to take everything off first, if I need the 2 or 4 wheel ABS rotors?
It's a 96 B4000 Ex cab loaded, 2 wheel drive.
(with the help of the tech info on the front page, this should be a breeze, thanks again ken.)
The anti-lock hydraulic control unit is located in the front of the engine compartment on the left inner fender. Fluid from the brake master cylinder enters the HCU through two inlet ports located at the top of the 4 wheel ABS HCU. The fluid then passes through three normally open inlet valves, one to each wheel in the front and one line to the rear wheels. Rear ABS will only have 3 lines total, the one going to the rear.

So I should be fine to purchase the 2wheel abs rotors of I only have two lines coming off the cylinder, sounds easy enough, thanks again.
lone ranger01 my 96 ranger has 4 wheel abs and the rotors are $45 a peice on sale reg $65. god help you if that dang plate bends. it turns the abs off and in the winter you need abs with a ranger mine went out and i hit a stop sign.
It must have been an option then.....I think on the 01+ rangers they started coming with 4wheel ABS standard....it may have been on the 98+ though...not sure.
