Can someone tell me what these numbers are 2GA 6015 6? They are on the left side of an old 6 engine I got with my 42 truck. I can't find any numbers on the bell housing and was wondering if these are the numbers. They are cast into the block.
6015 is a number for an engine block...from what your numbers say, you've got what is called the G series 6 cylinder. This engine was made from '41-late '47, when it was replaced by the H series 6 cyl.
Thanks 46, that confirms my thoughts. I also found this number on my 41 frame, BBI8-5967800Y. Have not been able to locate a number yet on the 42 because of the batt tray. Not sure how to get it out without taking the fender off and I am not ready for that yet. I did find a number on the trans but have to clean first to read. I thought numbers were on bell housings too?
Yes, the VIN was stamped on the bellhousing...I prefer the number on the frame since it's a way better gaurantee that it's the truck's VIN since the transmissions often get swapped out at some point in the trucks life. There is a bolt that is on the side of the frame rail, between the frame rail and the inner fender panel that helps stabilize the battery tray.
