You'll be running backwards with the diff upside down.
Where are your spring perches now? If on the bottom of the axle, weld them to the top. That's about 8" right there. If already on top, you need to search elsewhere for height. You can put blocks in, but those come with a heap of trouble attached. Good luck.
Let me clerify a little. I want to flip the entire axle so the left will be on the right and the drive shaft will come in on the top. That will put the perches facing down, so I'd cut them off and weld them to the top.
The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced it won't work. Mainly, because the pinion will be on top and the lube won't get up in there.
Currie Enterprises has been making high pinion 9 inch axles for a little while now. Mainly as Jeep front axles. But they will do almost anything custom that I am aware of. I am sure they could whip you up a center section for a price.
