Setting Timing

My brother in law has an F-150 with a 1987 5.0L HO in it. He wants to set his timing but we don't know where to set it.. Can anyone help us?

hook up a vacuum gauge to the manifold vacuum tree and advance your timing(after you disconnect the spout) to the maximum vacuum reading then back off until it drops 1in. and it should be great. reconnect the spout.

The above method is good. I set my HO to 14* BTDC intitial and that works great.

Stock recommened initial is 6 BTDC, obviously there is room to advance though, good luck
