I have a 350 with 6 liter diesel. 4500 km on it and it idles real rough in park and in gear. Tac from 500 to 800 rpm. Also I was pulling a few hills with my car haul trailer and a toyota p/up on it and the engine seemed to miss or flutter when it upshifted after pulling the hill. My engine light came on and didn't go out till I had shut off for about an hour. Any ideas? I am going to take it to Ford but just curious if this is a common problem.
Fordman: Ist of all, welcome to FTE! The concern you have is a common one with that engine. I personally do not own one but have read many threads on this problem. The best forum to check would be the 6.0L power stroke diesel. Which is located right below this forum in the Super duty section.
Hope this helps,
Cruzer

What is the build date of the truck? Have you had it in for service? If not, and it is of earlier build date, the truck probably needs a reflash...most of the new flashes address both cold start and rough idle issues...
Mine started idling rough and it was the imprpper oil the Kwik Kar doofuses misrepresented... changed out the oil and runing fine now...
Check to see if you have the latest "flashes" to update your trucks computer..
but first you have to decide is the devil I know worse than the devil I don't know :-)
will the flash cure on thing and mess up something else...
Do a search and find what each of the flashes do and see if you want that !
