I've got a problem with what I think is the transmission on my 2001 Explorer Sport (automatic). When accelerating, the truck shifts from 1st to 2nd ok, but delays shifting into 3rd - I'm thinking it comes out of second gear ok on it's way to third since the rpm's are jumping in between. The softer I accelerate the shorter the time it takes to engage into third gear (almost normal times). If I accelerate hard, it can take 1-2 seconds for 3rd to engage.

you can check it with a probe volt meter it's supposed to read .9 volts at idle and max out at less than 4.9 I believe , but check a manual or someone in this forum would know the exact voltages, it is slightly adjustable, but I've found that a comparison with one I know to be good (I've got more than 1 Ford (how smart could I be) ) is the easiest, quickest way to test.
