About a year ago I my AC compressor seized and I disconnected it .. can these units be rebuilt (like alternators) and re-installed, or do I need to purchase a whole new unit?
I'm figuring a rebuilt would be cheaper if its an option ...
Is it possible to remove mine and have it re-furbed/rebuilt at a shop, instead of turning it in and getting a different new unit? I did this with an alternator and it was cheaper.
It depends on whether the rebuilder will stand by his work (do you even have anyone close who can do this). If you have a problem, you're looking at major $$$. Most over-the-counter rebuilts come with some type of warranty, but you have to follow the install instructions EXACTLY or you're outta luck.
