I use to be a huge Nascar fan,I still watch it but not like I use to.
It really seems to me Nascar has gotten like WWF wrestling with all the hipe.
Seems Nascar focuses on the chevy drivers more than the Ford or Dodge,like Gordon,Dale Jr., Tony Stewart,but even the guys who are fast like Newman,Kenseth and the rookies,even the comercials show chevys and there drivers more than the others,is it just me,or are others seeing this too??
Last I checked,there were only about 8 Fords out of 43 cars, they are the underdog. I'd like to see Wood Brothers No 21 do something. Rousch's new engine didn't seem to help Rudd all that much...
I think NASCAR has always been GM-friendly. I didn't realize it till last night but there are now only 8 teams running the Ford brand (not counting the so-called "field fillers"). Five Rousch teams, two Yates cars and the Wood Brothers. Unreal. Seems it wasn't that long ago that the Fords outnumbered everyone!
Seems more like where the money comes from. Chrysler spends the most money, followed by Chevy, and if your for Ford and your name is not Yates or Rousch forget it.
Seems that they favor the Chebbies but I think it is mostly that there are more chebby teams and thus more coverage. Stats at the start of the season were:
Ford Drivers =8
Chevy Driver = 15
Dodge Driver = 16
But the facts are that Ford has the most all time wins in the Cup series.
Ford = 546
Chevy = 532
Dodge = 178
Both NASCAR and NHRA are big time chevrolet biased. Its even biased toward chevrolet right down to the local small town tracks. I've seen local track owners make the Ford racers pay to enter the gate and allow the guys hauling the chevrolet race cars enter the gate for free, even though the chevrolets were slower. Everyone wants to see a chevrolet win no matter what. They draw the crowd, and the crowd brings the money. People seem to be more impressed with a 12sec 1/4 mile chevrolet than a 10sec 1/4 mile ford, even if they were both the same type car. To me, this is just not as rewarding. I would rather go to a track where everyone expected/wanted to see me lose a race rather than go to a track where everyone was impressed no matter how slow or fast you were. It seems to me there is just not near as much reward for success if you race a chevrolet.
There's no doubt whatsoever that NASCAR is GM friendly. Everytime Ford wins, they make another rule so to "even" the playing field and slow Ford down. Racing used to be if you were smarter and faster, go for it. Now it's turned into "politically correct" racing. That is exactly why I don't watch it anymore. I don't even go to the local track...just to watch 18 Chevies, one Dodge and two Fords (if lucky) drive in circles. The stupidity (and drunk) level at the local track is more than I need to put up with.
