Clunk noises.
1990 F250HD 4X4, BorgWarner TC, ZF 5-Speed (4-speed because of the granny gear), 460, no lift, stock everything. When I first heard the clunk it sounded like the passenger side motor mount, so I had my dad drive it and I went with and it sounded like the driver side motor mount from the passenger seat and vice-versa. The noise happens if you give it gas let off on-off-on-off fairly quickly, it also does it in first, second, and reverse if you don't give it enough gas and are letting out the clutch due to the slow speed as not to stall it, and when you push in the clutch from a high gear at a low speed you can hear it go clunk-clunk-clunk in fast succsession (about 1-1 1/2 secs). We did check the motor mounts and they are good, the tranny mount is good, the U-Joints have no discernable play in them, the driveshaft will turn about a dozen degrees parked but my guess is that is the slop in the rear diff. I do not leave my front hubs locked so the front driveline does not turn while driving(unless off-road of course when needed). All I want to know is this a normal trait of a heavy duty truck, or is there a real problem going on.

I have the same problem. I have an 89 F-150 4X4 with a BW 1345 TC. The noise on
mine turned out in fact to be the transfer case. So many things to go wrong with
the BW transfer case, i just hunted down a used one on ebay for $85.... problem fixed.
