Brake replacement question

Recently bought brake pads for my 01 F250 4x4 diesel. Bought front and rear set at NAPA. As I was checking the pads I found a package of hardware in the box with the rear pads. The hardware was caliper abutment springs or brackets. Anyway, there were none in the box with the front pads. I ask about the front not having the hardware and was told they didn't come with hardware. After I had completed the front installation and was starting on the rear I noticed that the hardware for the rear looked very similar to that for the front. I didn't need the rear pads and am saving them for later but here's my question.

Should the front have also contained new caliper abutment brackets? The literature included didn't make it a big deal saying that failure to replace could result in squeeks or something. I'm more interested in if the NAPA tech misled me. I already have a beef comming up with them and if they misled it would just give me more ammo. As always all replys are apprecieated.

Thanks man. Also I sent you an email about the tranny fluid. I'm convinced you are correct and am about to pour out 25 qts of Mercon V. What aggreavates me is that I was dumb enough to take their word for it. If it had been some other palce I probably would have dug deeper but I just trust NAPA.
