I am glad to help people that love these Yblocks as i do. I also love to try and help people with problems with their Yblocks. It all started way back in 1959, when a daughter of a hang around at my Dads wrecker and repair yard, had friends that would hang around on Staurdays. One day, and i was only about 6, the teenage girl was told by the dada to use the 56 fairlane to run out and get a part, the stock little Yblock , i could feel the roar and coolness in my chest, after that i just loed cars with Yblocks. My experience came with doing repairs "the wrong ways 200 times " LOL...So i huess i know iall the wrong ways and finally found out what works...If yall want help, from someone that did it all the wrong ways, until they found out what the right ways are , well chat at me.....Janet
I'm a new user here and have been following alot of these threads lately....I like what you have to say.
I am just starting a ground up rebuild of a '64 f100 (292) and am finding alot of useful tips here...it's nice to see a group of people sharing their know-how and having fun doing it!
I am totally new to y-blocks...but I like the look and sound of them....and I am convinced that I can get all the power I need out of it. Trouble is....up here in Canada there is not AS big a following for these motors as there is in the States, it seems.
If I am wrong I would love to hear from some fellow Canucks who can steer me in the right direction to find a reputable y-block builder.
So far sites like this (and others) have been and will be a BIG help....get ready for a ton of questions!
Janet. I want a auto transmission really bad. I know there is an adapter to allow such but is the any other way to get an good transmission on these motors. Ed

Hi Mike, i've hear many times, that around canada, the Yblock pickups are mercury pickups....I'm a stock engine Yblock old gal, because i just can't frget how groovy they sound the way they were in the 50's and 60's and boy did Yblock owners with stock sure could sling the dust and feel fun!!! hahaha...I always say, build the one in the vehicle, unless you have to start boring over 40 over on the cylinders. And buy all means get those darned hardened valave seats because of that unleaded fuel we are forced to use today. Get that baby going and youll see you will match these late model pickups, and by all means have dual exhaust put on them, they have an aroma like no other engine. If rebuilding have that baby sonic tested and magnufluxed, and rebuild her your self. and please check that trueness of that crank saddle bore, those had a rolem back then, and sure they burn the gas, but if they are ayed for, yo can aford it, because no car notes...Do it!!!!!....Janet
