need help from the oldies

hi guys, do any of the older guys remember much about the ranch wagons ford produced in the early sixties?, a farmer i do a little trading with has an old inter tractor he has dropped a big block ford complete with auto into, as he remembers it, he trashed a ranch wagon many years ago while racing speedway and fitted the combo one weekend, i have not been able to identify it in amoungst my books, any thoughts?, i beleive the 427 started in about 60 or 61 before fixing oil supply problems, could i be that lucky?
please help, this thing sounds great and would make a good addition to the 60.

61-62 was the 406 era as I remember. I do know you could get a 427 in 63.

i thought the 427 was released in 61 but because they fed the oil to the cam first, suffered premiture engine failures. the engines fitted to the likes of the cobras had a revised oil system, i still can't identify this motor though

I believe the 406 and the earlier 427 were the ones that suffered main bearing failures in racing thats why the cross bolted 427 were used later. Look for 3 bolts just above the pan rails that would screw into main caps. also look for allen screw in freeze plugs.
Give us some #'s off the block and intake (c2ae?)
