6.9 diesel glow plugs
I have a problem with my glow plugs sticking on and then they burn out.I have replaced the solenoid on the fender well and the tower is 10,000 miles old.Did I miss something? Also ,can 12 volt glow plugs be put in these trucks and if so , who makes them? Thankyou, Oldedi

I just spoke to a dealler after I had three glow plugs go out after what I'm guessing was 30000miles. Apparetntly when the controller starts going bad the plugs will go on real quick, then shut off, sending too much power to some glow plugs and burning them up really fast.

The controller on the 6.9 is probably the best money maker for Ford on any day as it is prone to failure. It costs in the neighborhood of $130.00 and must be installed by someone with experience because if not, it will fail within days or hours.
If you are an experienced back yard mechanic and follow the installation instructions to the letter and I mean to the letter, you will be just as successful as the ford mechanic. If you feel that it is out of your reach, then by all means let a mechanic put it in.
Most electrical parts do not carry any warranty.
