Family is getting too big for the '93 3.0L shorty. Looking at a '95 Extended XLT with Electronic AWD, 4.0L, 2 captain chairs in the middle row. The van has 72,000 miles with exceptional exterior and interior, but the infamous "check engine" light is on sporadically (I suspect a vacuum leak since I can hear it) and the tranny is shifting a bit rough. The guy wants $4000 for it and he won't budge an inch. "To be or not to be?" Any suggestions?
The NADA prices are as follows: Low Retail $3837, Average Retail $4862,
High Retail $5662. Extended, AWD, clean, low miles and close to Low Retail
price. If I were you I would get it. I have a 1996 Aerostar, same features, was
a good family hauler. Still going strong 163,000 miles, original engine, transmission,
starter, alternator and battery.
i vote "yes".!! those are low miles. check tranny fluid color .if dark red may be old. fluid and filter change would be due.might smooth out shifting. could take it to a mechanic for opinion. i'd like to get ahold of a awd ext aerostar too ! good luck rick
I personally like aerostars and I would go for it. I just bought a 97 shorty with captains chairs and a lot of options for $400.... from an auction of course.
