Cross member will need to be moved but it should fit. They both have the small block bolt pattern.

Don't forget you'll need a clutch pedal assembly which includes the narrower brake pedal, and clutch cable.

The ratios aren't right for a truck and the T5 may not have enough torque capacity.

I think the rear end will make up for the ratios and a buddy of mine had a T5 in a bronco with a 351. Maybe the internal design is different on the ones made for a truck.

The shifter on a T5 is farther back on the trans than a regular truch trans; it will probably be right under the seat. A T56 has the shifter almost exactly as far from the front as a T5 and a T56 requires some seat changes and a funny bend in the shifter to work right.

Never considered the shifter issue. It would never work right.

Is there such thing as a best automatic? Slushboxes must go!

Anyways...just go get an E4OD and have it built up.

What year is your truck? If it's a late model with EFI then the PCM to run the E4OD is readily available and will plug into your wiring harness. If it's an older truck, you may need to look at other options. There are bolt on OD units available from gearvendors and US Gear, but they aren't cheap.

Hey all, I'm new to this forum and have a 1990 F150 with a 4.9 and an E4OD trans. The trans is a bit loose and I have little if any low end torque. SAURIAN mentioned a "build-up for this trans and I would appreciate any detail regarding what this build-up might involve (parts, sources, etc) ??
