Heck, overloads are less than $200.00.....

But does that include installation? Shops will charge based on the flat rate manual. I think it calls for like 2.5 hours to change springs....about $180 around here...

Leaf springs are a piece of cake to install yourself. All you need are some deep well sockets.

no, one is bent, and there both original.

would rather go new, and move up to 3/4 ton.

only problem i heard is that usually you ahve to get all new bolts for them, cause tehre rusted. Specially here in michigan with salty roads.

I spose i could spray some derusting stuff on there, and let it set and see if ic an break em loose. but so hard.

Truck just keeps leaning more and more though. afraid to haul stuff sometimes.

The price did include labor. I think i'm going to go for some used ones or something. cause thats friggen expencive. there like 120 a piece brand new too.

easy to do yourself

I had a 93 f-150 reg cab shortbox I changed from 4 leaf rear to 5 leaf and put new heavy duty coils on front. I had just over $300 invested that included new eye bolts and u-bolts from Fleetpride in Omaha, NE

A local spring shop charged me about $180.00 for heavy duty springs, bolts, shackles and u-bolts and nuts. The springs were OEM with the ford numbers on them. When I asked they told me that this supplier was the largest in the nation and supplied springs to most MFG'd's.

Took about 8hrs to complete, which included a bed change and goose neck hitch install.

Soundsl ike its going to be better cost wise for me to do it, just time consumeing.

was it easier with the bed off labsownus?

i gotta do some gastank repair on my rear tank, and i'm gonig to put a hitch on too.

Gas tank first, the springs can wait a bit, not hurting anythign driveing around, but i'm scared to haul stuff, or have people that are larger sit in the back, started leanning more last time 2 250+ guys sat on that side.
wierd part though, i hauled a bunch of house stuff a few days ago. and it did nothing. *sigh*

It is easy with the bed off and if you are going to do some gas tank work. It is easy with the bed off.

i'm droping the rear gas tank. i dont want to take it off unless i have too.

Just looked at the U bolts for the rear. i'm lucky, there not really rusted.

I can pull them off with ease and reuse the bolts and nuts.
This truck must not have been drivein in michigan winter to much by the looks of these bolts.

Gas tank is a lil more rusty.

I dont know how this guy did it, but he bent some of the oddest parts on this truck.
Twards the inside, drivers side, where the gas tank strap bolts, he bent that, Its up above the friggen axle! how the hell!

Replace the "U" bolts. They are to be torqued to a specified amount and the old bolts will have pulled threads. The risk of snaping a bolt under a load is not worth the price of new bolts. I paid about $16.00 for 4 with nuts and washers.

alright thanks for info.

Pulled the gas tank today, ******* me thinking no problem with out havenig to plug the damn fuel lines.
Grah!

Figured out a decent way to plug them after 4 hours with on and off rain, and looseing electrical tape, and other items.
Teflon tape was my friend today.

anyone know how well teflon tape reacts with gas?

I'm really bumed, my tank needs to be redone all the way, when this one is done, i think i'm going to drop the other one and have it redone and coated too. The hole for the pump was rusted to all hell.
And the places this guy has been the truck!as i posted previosuly today. I have no clue how he bent this piece, it took me 4 mins of hammering to even get it back close, and its still bent.
