coolant leak

I have a coolant leak in my 94. Is there an easy way to tell if it's the water pump or the head gasket? Thanks. 116,000 miles and change and this is the first engine problem I've ever had.

Do you see water around the water pump? Is water leaking some place other than the pump? Is there steam coming out the exhaust pipe? Do you have oil in your water? do you have water in your oil? In these questions will be the answer!

the thermostat sits direct over the water pump and can make the head and water pump look like there leaking. check that first and there cheap to replace

Thanks for the replies. Hard to see where the leak is comming from. From the puddle on the ground it looks like up front in the middle. So I guess it's either the water pump or the thermostat. No oil in water or water in oil.

Check the hoses connected to the radiator.
