80-86 cab on 79 frame?

80-86 cab on 79 frame?
Ok so I got a perfectly good running 79 f-150 but the cab is shot. My buddy has a 84 f-150 cab just sitting in his yard he said I could take if I wanted. Now my question is will it bolt on? I dont care if the steering lines up or if the wiring matches, thats no big deal to me. My biggest concern is will the cab bolt to the original body mounts on the frame? If not how far off are they? Is this even possible?

Never done that but it has to be possible. We put a 79 body on a 74 (high boy) frame and i have a seen a picture of a 90's model body on a 70's frame i guess it all depends on how much time you want to spend on doing that.

cab swap
I had a 75 drum on drum highboy and put a 80 complete body on it. The frame on the 75 is a bit smaller than the 78-79 chassis. I had to drill a few new holes in the rear rear of the cab for the rear cab mounts. I would say your best bet is to break out the good ole tape measure. It is gonna be your best friend if you contemplate this conversion.
